The Mega Man series had an unprecedented SIX titles on the NES, but when it was time to transition to the Super Nintendo, the developers wanted to make something a little bit darker and more sophisticated.
Mega Man X isn't a radical departure from the original series, but it was different enough to feel new and fresh. This game was more focused on robot blasting action than precise platforming, and many of the boss fights felt like real battles.
