In this episode we meet BE. BE entered into menopause after having had a hysterectomy to remove fibroids. She was unprepared for the abrupt start of her symptoms, particularly severe hot flashes as nobody had mentioned that surgically induced menopause can make symptoms more extreme.
BE also experienced intense mood swings and scared herself on at least one occasion when she succumbed to road rage and literally ‘lost her mind’ for about 5 minutes before regaining some control.
BE sought help for her symptoms, and she finally found relief with an acupuncturist who helped her resolve some of her pain and her mood swings. BE is now through the worst of the menopausal transition and is very content, living her free life and finally at peace with her body.
Mood Changes & Rage
No, you are not “going crazy” although there is something to the saying that “it’s all in your head”… menopause can be accompanied by a slew of emotional changes, including mood swings, sudden anxiety or rage and depression. These are interlinked with hormonal changes, hot flashes and sleep problems. Often these swings make you feel like your personality is changing during menopause.
