MET JON CHU | Wicked Q&A w/ Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, and Jon Chu (PSIFF screening)

Apologies for the iPhone quality but hope this was insightful and fun! With the deepest gratitude to the incredible director Jon M Chu for bringing Wicked (2024) onto the big screen. I’ve seen how magical this film’s impact has been with so many eyes. In my own experience, from the visceral reaction I had with Crazy Rich Asians a few years back—especially with the huge Asian representation to this film that’s somehow even more personal to me because it was created with so much love. It’s everything I love too and more. Admittedly, haven’t had much exposure to Wicked material but now I’m diving deep into the other previous adaption. I cannot give enough thanks to how he brought in so many talented individuals as well—Cynthia and Ariana truly lived and killed this role. They’ve put their entire soul into Elphaba Thropp and Glinda Upland and I don’t think anyone else’s would fit. I love cinema and I love the people working with joy in it.
