President Donald Trump signed an executive order calling for the U.S. to withdraw from the World Health Organisation (WHO) on Monday.
The president’s order calls for the Secretary of State to "pause the future transfer of any United States Government funds, support, or resources to the WHO”.
The WHO issued a statement on Tuesday saying it “regrets” the announcement.
"The World Health Organization regrets the announcement that the United States of America intends to withdraw from the Organization,” the United Nations agency said.
One Nation Leader Pauline Hanson has called on Australia to follow Donald Trump’s lead.
“It is time to put Australia first, reclaim our sovereignty, and ensure our future is decided by Australians, for Australians,” Ms Hanson said in a social media post.
