The Mexican Hat Rock Road in Utah has several dispersed camping spots where you can boondock next to the San Juan River or up closer to the Mexican Hat Rock for free. This dispersed camping spot is a great spot to check out the local area such as the Forest Gump Hill which was made a popular attraction in the movie Forest Gump. Also within easy driving range is the Moki Dugway, a must see very scenic drive up the side of a mountain. Don't forget to drive the Valley of the Gods road back to camp after the Moki Dugway drive!
