It was on this night that both Toya and Izuku Todoroki tragically perished in a devastating fire. To Izuku's surprise, he awoke in the "Soul Society," a mysterious realm where his quirk underwent a transformation, and he was trained to become a Shinigami.
The grief over Izuku's death extended beyond his family, as his best friend, Himiko Toga, was devastated by the loss. By the time Shoto started attending UA Academy, Izuku had already returned to the human world. However, he decided to stay away from his family and instead searched for and found his friend, Himiko Toga.
