Teyvat is closed of from the rest of the world(So original) and is assumed to be located in the middle of the ocean. Rumors say that Archons were sent to watch over the people of teyvat to pay for their sins, since all people that landed in teyvat were thought to have committed a crimes. What they don't know is that Archons are actually gods and were brought by the heavenly principles to watch over their own respective nation while the heavenly principles give out visions. The staff at UA know that Archons are gods and the government officials but normal people are thought that Archons are strong humans from teyvat.
Bad rumors have been spread about teyvatians. They say that all of them are villans, they break rules and steal things, are manipulative and are blood thirsty. These are obviously not true but it comes from the fact that the only people who travel to outside of teyvat are either Fatui, some mad semeru scholar or a traveler who stays under the radar. Teyvatians do not know the basics of laws in the rest of the world, therefore most of them end up arrested for either; Stealing, using a “quirk” in public or simply carrying a weapon.
