Michael Jackson was an unapologetic perfectionist, someone who only wanted to climb upwards, never descending and never hitting a plateau. But how do you top the biggest selling album of all time? That would prove to be a question that would frame the rest of his career. The almost unfathomable success of Thriller would cast somewhat of a shadow on Michael in what would follow. His success wouldn’t slow down anytime soon, however. But everything he did from this point on would be unfairly compared to Thriller, both by critics and Michael himself. Regardless, he would fight tooth and nail with his next release. His mission was simple: to beat Thriller.
