Michael Jai White discussed the profitability of his movie, "Outlaw Johnny Black," which he wrote, directed, and produced. He spoke about how this film generated more income than many of his more high-budget projects due to being continually rediscovered and watched by a loyal fan base, resulting in paid screenings over time. He has preferred this 'slow burn' method and 'mailbox money' as part of his deal structure rather than receiving large amounts of money upfront. He stated that big studios have a need to invest heavily in marketing, which can cause problems unless the movie is a blockbuster that recoups that cost immediately. He discussed how he prioritizes these projects that don't require as much marketing but retain their popularity over time, adding that action movies, like his cult classic, "Blood and Bone," consistently sell worldwide despite studios' assumptions. To further his point, Michael Jai White pointed out the success Wesley Snipes enjoyed by acting in action movies - so much so, that he profited more than Denzel Washington.
