Last year, Google Cloud’s Release Engineering team migrated two monolithic applications - each on a different tech stack in GCP - into dynamic microservices! For the first project, GlassPane, we used the Strangler Pattern to split a single App Engine app into ~7 microservices with independent data layers in Cloud DataStore. For the second project, Louhi, we leveraged Google Kubernetes Engine and Spring Cloud Kubernetes to make the migration seamless. In this talk, GlassPane's Tech Lead will show you how we migrated to microservices using the right tools and approaches. In addition to useful patterns, the talk will cover architecture design & strategies for implementing microservices using GKE, Cloud Pub/Sub, Cloud Datastore, Stackdriver, and more!
