This video features a no-commentary playthrough of the story mode of the MINDWAVE Demo, currently available for free on Steam.
You play as Pandora, a low-class goth punk in the smog-choked urban future of the city of Blackout. You have entered into the MINDWAVE tournament; a game centered around connecting to your opponent's mind through your neural port, and experiencing their thoughts, emotions, and memories in quick bursts known as "microgames".
The game is divided into social segments and minigame segments. During the minigame segments, you must complete a series of fast paced challenges in quick succession, which increase in speed the farther you get. This is similar in gameplay to titles such as WarioWare. Eventually, you reach a "boss" minigame, after which your opponent is eliminated.
During the social segment of the game, Pandora and Smalls loiter around the lobby, and can speak with other contestants. This segment plays like a visual novel, and grants greater insight into the world of MINDWAVE, and into the minds of the contestants... not that Pandora needs much help with that, given the nature of the game.
