Mineral green is a generic term for different shades of Malachite which is a green colored semi-precious stone. This color has become a popular pigment in landscape painting and temple decoration. You may see it used in the cave paintings in Mogao caves in the Silk Road of China. There are 4 shades of green derived from Malachite, from light to deeper green in this painting. The first green 頭綠 is the deepest and the fourth green is the lightest.
