It's been a long time coming but the Mini Project is finally finished. I am extremely happy with how it turned out and I can't wait to start driving it.
I have a couple of issues with this kit though. One being the body not fitting properly because of an extra piece on the chassis which I had to hacksaw off. Another issue was the window masks. I had to cut them down otherwise the edges would have wrinkled causing the paint to bleed round the masks. I also think the toe angle at the rear is far to much, which may cause the wheel to rub on the wheel arch. Basic stuff that i would expect Tamiya to get right.
I also had problems with some of the aftermarket upgrades I used. The Yeah Racing steering set was super sloppy, especially around the bearings which I'll have to shim to reduce the play. The 3Racing Body Post Brace caused the posts to angle inwards making it nearly impossible to fit the body. I had to drill out the four holes to make it fit correctly. Lastly, the Boom Racing Hex Adapters didn't fit the wheels (or any others I had). That has to be the biggest failed product I've seen in RC. A 12mm hex is not difficult to make, how did they get that wrong? Even if it did fit, the screw to clamp it down on the driveshaft stuck out, so it still wouldn't fit. Just stupid.
This has been the most challenging build by far but I love the result. I hope you have enjoyed the series. Thanks for sticking with it, I know it has dragged on a bit. I'm looking forward to the next project and I hope you are too.
