Rakovskoye Suburb is a historical quarter, including the modern Yubileynaya Square and the buildings within the boundaries of Nemiga, Pobediteley Avenue and Romanovskaya Sloboda Street.
In the second half of the 15th century, this was one of the most undeveloped areas, where poor Jewish artisans settled. The Nemiga River flowed nearby, which overflowed during rains and flooded a significant part of the quarter. Therefore, it was always dirty and swampy here. But in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Rakovskoye Suburb turned into an industrial quarter. The main industries were wallpaper factories.
In 1898, the first steam boiler in the city was installed. Since 1927, the first bakery in Minsk has been operating in Rakovskoye Suburb.
Today, this corner of Minsk is being reconstructed, turning it into a popular cultural and tourist space.
