We spent one of the previous Sundays cooking in desi style on a chulha. We chose to make mix daal and had it with makki and bajra chapatis. Cooking in a clay pot is not only considered good for health but also tastes great.
You can keep the following things in mind while using a clay handi for cooking:
- Always soak the handi in water for atleast an hour before putting it on the flame.
- You can also use the handi on gas stove instead of chulha.
- Soak daal for atleast half an hour before cooking.
- Clay pots take time in getting heated. It takes around 10 mins for the water to start boiling.
