The rivalry between the Yankees and Royals that peaked from 1976-1980 was one of the best in MLB history. They played each other in the American League Championship Series 4 times in those 5 years. Some of the most iconic games of the Old Yankee Stadium took place during these series. There were also legends like Reggie Jackson, George Brett, Goose Gossage, and more! With the current day New York Yankees and Kansas City Royals off to great starts in 2024...maybe this forgotten rivalry will make a comeback.
