In honor of John Bonham's birthday, here is the next vid in my series of How The West Was Won complete covers. This version of Moby Dick was a BEAST! I wanted to play within the thematic ideas and structure of the solo, but improvising within that framework. I'm not playing it note for note - that would be virtually impossible, without seeing his playing/stickings, etc. That said, I follow the form pretty much as it was played, with some variations here and there, and some bits as close as I could get. Bonzo's playing on this version is absolutely phenomenal.
I want to also give a shoutout to Drugan's Drums (note the cool t-shirt). Drugan's is one of my favorite drum shops. They always have the best vintage goodies and they are the coolest guys. Here's a link to their YT. Look them up! Drugan's is in Des Plaines , IL.
Hope you all had a fantastic Memorial Day Weekend!
