रिबेल स्टार शम्मी कपूर जी और सदाबहार सिंगर मोहम्मद रफी साहब की जोड़ी मशहूर थी। शम्मी जी तो रफी साहब को अपनी आवाज ही मानते थे। इन दोनों का इतना बढ़िया तालमेल था कि रफी साहब गाने के बोल पढ़कर ही समझ जाते थे कि शम्मी जी कैसे परफॉर्म करेंगे। जब तब संभव होता था खुद शम्मी जी भी रफी साहब को सुझाव देते थे और रिहर्सल पर मौजूद भी रहते थे, लेकिन इस गाने को रफी साहब ने जिस मस्ती में गाया और जिस तरह मनमोहन देसाई जी ने इसको शूट करने का शेड्यूल बनाया, उससे शम्मी कपूर असहज हो गए थे। उन्होंंने प्रोड्यूसर से दो पैग लगाने की इजाजत मांगी जिसकी बाद ये गाना शूट हुआ।

He asked the producer for permission to have two drinks, after which the song was shot.
