This morning I woke up, switched on the power at the mains for the studio, and my Hologram Microcosm died. The pedal played such an integral part of my setup, it had beautiful delays, reverb, and harmonising capabilities, so I scattered around to try and replace it with something else. Something that could fill that empty space.
It's funny, with limitations comes creativity, I quickly found another pedal, in this case, the Chase Bliss MOOD which is rather different from the Microcosm (it's mono, can't do bigger buffers, etc.), but you can totally get there if you chain it with some other pedals in this case. So I used the Eventide Space and RE-201 Space Echo, and got some great results!
We've grown accustomed to GAS and getting lazy, not really using instruments to their fullest. This small incident reminded me of this again.
