More Than Just a Race is the raw and unfiltered story of Alberto, a ski instructor facing his greatest challenge: staying sober.
With nothing but his bike and a burning will to change, Alberto embarks on a journey to prove that he can reclaim his life, one pedal stroke at a time. His goal? Finishing the Trans Balkan Race, one of the most grueling off-road bikepacking races in the world. The riders are completely unsupported and must follow a fixed route of 1400 km, passing two mandatory checkpoints. The race starts in Slovenia and crosses Croatia and Bosnia Herzegovina to end in Montenegro. The time limit to reach the finish line is 10 days.
Shot amidst the stunning and untamed landscapes of the Balkans, this movie captures the raw determination of a man on a mission to change his life. Alberto pushes through not only physical limits but emotional and mental ones as well, proving that his Trans Balkan is more than just a race—it’s an adventure filled with personal growth, transformation, and the fight for sobriety.
