This whole performance was so much fun to put together. I'm currently studying at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. My major is CWP (Contemporary Writing and Production), which is a major focused on teaching the skills of music composition, arranging, and production - it's been a perfect fit for me during my time here at Berklee. The CWP department puts on a concert each year showcasing the best student arrangements, and I decided to submit Pollyanna to be considered for the concert! Pollyanna ended up being chosen as the closer for the show.
With most of my videos, I am the person playing most of the instruments. In this live performance situation, however, I assumed the role of the conductor, and let the musicians read the charts. At first, this was a bit tough for me. I often have a hard time trusting other musicians to take the parts that I've written and turn them into something great, I suppose that's what I get for writing for myself mainly for these past 7 years of YouTube, so doing this project, along with other recent live performances at PAX and MAGFest was a good way for me to start breaking those old habits.
I hope you enjoyed this live performance! If all goes according to plan, the next video that I'll release will be the first installment of a big project that I've been teasing for a while now. I'm unbelievably excited for you to see and hear!
