We hiked to Assiniboine Provincial Park from Sunshine Village and it took us 5 days in total to complete this hike. Our endpoint was the Mount Shark parking lot from where we drove back to Banff. Here is a complete Itinerary for your reference.
Itinerary
Day 1: Sunshine Village to Og Lake ( 7 - 9 Hours)
Day 2: Og Lake to Magog Lake and explore the area( 2 -3 Hours)
Day 3: Magog Lake - Nub & Nublet Peak - Assiniboine Lodge for Happy Hours ( 4 - 5 Hours)
Day 4: Magog Lake - McBride (Br 14) Camp (6-7 Hours)
Day 5: McBride - Mount Shark ( 3 Hours) and 1.5 hours drive back to Banff.
Information needed before the hike:
1. The gondola from Sunshine Village to Sunshine Meadows costs $65 per person, $59 for seniors, and $32 for children.
2. You can take a free shuttle from the Mount Royal Hotel parking lot in Banff to Sunshine Village which starts at 7 AM.
3. If you are driving, do not forget to take Parks Canada parking Pass.
4. You should park one of your vehicles at Mount Shark a day before your hike to drive back to Banff.
5. To park your vehicle in Mount Shark, you have to buy a pass from Kananaskis.
Information about the trail
1. There are few water sources for the first day, but I would suggest you carry enough water for 7 - 9 Hours. For the Second and third days, you will have enough water sources. Again, on your fourth and fifth days, make sure you carry enough water.
2. Og Lake has one Pit Style Toilet with toilet paper, Magog has plenty of Pit Style toilet with toilet paper and McBride has 2 Toilets but you should have your own toilet paper.
3. There is no network at all, however, there will be happy hour tea, beer, wine and cake from 4 - 5 pm at Assiniboine Lodge on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Monday and you might be able to connect to WIFI. Happy hours is Sunday instead of Monday on long Weekend.
