Mozart wrote the C-Dur concerto during his second visit to Paris in 1778. Mozart was 22 years old, he was no longer a miracle child who awakened admiration in everyone. Now Mozart had to make great efforts to interest the aristocratic public. Mozart failed to enlist recommendations to the court, it was necessary to earn money, so he took up teaching. Acquaintance with the Duke de Guin, who enjoyed the favor of the queen, was promising. Mozart was engaged in composition with the daughter of the duke. Although Mozart was dissatisfied with his student and the duke's negligence in payment, he paid tribute to the performing talents of father and daughter. Mademoiselle played the harp perfectly, and the duke himself was excellent in flute. By order of the duke, a concert was written, the only concert in the work of Mozart for two solo instruments. Mozart disliked the flute, and considered the harp a technically imperfect instrument, and the whole second trip to Paris was unsuccessful for him.
