Mt Patriarch via John Reid Hut | Kahurangi National Park, New Zealand

One of the most epic ridge hikes on the South Island of New Zealand Checkout all the gear we use here: https://linktr.ee/chrisanddanya Date hiked: April 2023 Distance: ~ 35 KM Duration: 3 days Mount Patriarch is one of the most prominent peaks located in Kahurangi National Park, New Zealand. Standing 1,621 meters tall, summiting the peak rewards trampers with panoramic vistas of the Arthur Ranges and other distant peaks and valleys. Starting via the Chummies Track we explore ancient beech forests before heading above the bush line and spending the night at John Reid Hut. Day 2 is a breathtaking trek across the unmarked ridge to Mt Patriarch and then spending the night at Kiwi Saddle Hut. The final day is a gradual downhill via the Wangapeka Track. This trail absolutely blew us away and is highly recommended for anyone looking for a bit more of a challenge.
