日本百名山の一つに挙げられる大峰山。大峰山は山上ヶ岳など様々な山々から成りますが、その中でも関西最高峰の八経ヶ岳(はっきょうがたけ)に登ってきました。
弥山登山口(行者還トンネル西口)からスタート。古の霊場・熊野古道の一つである「大峯奥駈道」の一部を歩くルートです。この道は千年以上の歴史を持ち、修験道の行者たちが厳しい修行の場として歩んできた、深い信仰と自然が融合する特別な場所。道中では理源大師像などもあり、歴史の重みを感じます。
Mt.Omine, one of the 100 most famous mountains in Japan. Omine consists of various mountains, including Mt.Sanjogatake. I started from the Misen trailhead (west entrance of the Gyoja-kaeri Tunnel). This route is part of the Omine-Okugakemichi, one of the Kumano Kodo, an ancient sacred site. This path has a history of more than 1,000 years, and is a special place where deep faith and nature merge, where Shugendo ascetic practitioners walked as a place of severe ascetic training. Along the way, I saw the statue of Rigen Daishi and others, and feel the weight of history.
