“Munna bhai was a game-changer for me. When I first started out, I didn’t want to act; I’d never acted before I did my first movie. I was frightened–what if I failed? I didn’t want to be the subject of pity– “Bechara gaon se actor banne aya tha!” But a director and a meeting with Mrs. Jaya Bachchan changed everything. They put me in front of the camera and changed the trajectory of my life. All of a sudden, I was in the limelight. But after the craze died down, so did the limelight. For 3-4 years before Munna bhai happened, I was out of work–I stayed home while my wife worked. Then, I met Rajkumar and he asked me if I would like to play a goon in a movie with Sanju–I was apprehensive, but said yes. And thank god that I did, because that’s how I became ‘Circuit’!” Arshad Warsi is a name that resonates with versatility, charm, and talent.
