I've been learning how to make music for the past week and I got the idea to make one suited for horror. This isn't a part of my Murder Drones analog horror series but this is just me trying to get used to making my own sound design.
Anyways the idea I have here is a horror game based around the aftermath of Murder Drones' last episode. The game starts when J suddenly wakes up inside of her barely repaired ship in the middle of the day because something violently attacked it and made it fall over to its side. Getting up and out of the ship, angrily and confused, J decided to go and look for whatever the hell made it fall like that. And conveniently but not so at the same time, she discovers that one of the legs of her ship is gone, literally ripped off and whatever took it left a trail of oil leading to the outside. Obviously she couldn't leave at this time since she would melt under the sun, so she decides to kill some time by going back into the ship to sleep. Before sleeping though, she thinks about her situation, about everything that had happened to her so far. And this is where Solitude and Hatred starts to play, at first she feels saddened, lonely. Realizing that her decisions led to her being all by herself with no one else in her life to accompany her. Not N, not V, not Cyn, and definitely not Tessa. However, the more she thought about it, the more she grew angry. Hating herself for the things she's done and the path she now has to walk through, this all wouldn't have happened if she weren't so arrogant. Though she also does develop a deep grudge against Uzi.
And after all of that and a bunch of seething and depressing inner monologue later, J wakes up and it's finally night time. Luckily for her, not much of the oil trail dissapeared under the snow and it led her to one of the abandoned factories on Copper-9 where copper-based products were made from the labor of overclocked worker drones, well, used to. Travelling further into the factory J eventually finds the missing leg of the ship, what remains of it at least, and starts heading back. There's this uneasy feeling throughout the journey though, there were shadows darker than the pitch black throughout and most of the machinery she passes by are nearly destroyed, genuinely unrecognizable. Also this is the part where Roaming the Halls starts playing.
While walking back, more and more things start to look wrong, feel wrong. Some of the machinery J passed through earlier was gone, the floor looked a lot more dirty than it used to and the trail of oil she followed dissapeared. Each room she goes into looks more and more unrecognizable and she gets lost in this abandoned factory. Then something moves around the darkness, then again, and again, and again. And that's when Sensing Danger plays throughout.
At this point, making a sound too loud or having a light too bright might cause something to pop out of the darkness. Every corner IS dangerous and she can't really react quickly since she's still holding onto one of the legs of her ship. And if something does end up jumping out at her, all she can do is run away. It's also where RUN FASTER plays until the thing chasing her decides it's spent enough energy.
So basically, this horror game is largely dependent on the player's sense of direction and memory + their capability to react quickly. Anyways, that's all for the concept I've thought of, I'm not planning on learning how to code just to make this game. But I will add new chapters since I like the idea. I've already got one for N and V, but that's for another time.
