Where is the best burger joint in Apia, Samoa? Phat Burger was fantastic. It has a great vibe and it tastes great as well.
We loved visiting the Samoan Cultural Village in downtown Apia. The Samoan Tourism Authority does a great job of giving you a taste and feel of true Samoan culture. We experienced a Samoan Ava ceremony; saw the traditional woodcarvers making beautiful bowls, turtles, and hooks; and witnessed someone painfully getting a traditional Pe'a body tattoo. The live music and dancing were really well done.
We especially loved the Samoan Umu cooking of taro root, breadfruit, Palusami fish, and bananas. It was cool to see how they built the fire, cooked the food, and even cracked and opened a coconut to make fresh coconut milk.
