Mutton Shoulder Mandi and Arabian Yellow Rice |

Video Not Working? Fix It Now

I love food, whether self-cooked or cooked by someone. In this video, I am cooking Arabian Yellow Rice and also sharing my experience from a restaurant in Bahrain. In Bahrain, I had Lamb Shoulder Mandi. It was one such food experience which triggered this video. I went to Bahrain a few months back, when I was invited for attending a local event there. As always, I went in search of good local delicacies and landed in Al Osra resturant which served Arabic food. I relished a mandi rice with lamb shoulder. Although I couldn't enjoy very much because I was all alone, the food was tasty for sure. So with this experience in mind, I decided to try my own version of Arabian rice, modified to suit my family's taste preferences. It is a simple dish without much ingredients, but tasty no doubt. Ingredients for Arabian yellow rice: Long grain rice Unsalted butter Garlic (chopped into small pieces) Green chilies Turmeric powder Garam masala Curry masala (meat masala will also do) Carrots Green beans How to make Arabian yellow rice? Wash and soak long grain rice in water. Heat a pan and add a small quantity of unsalted butter to it. (I added salted butter which caused the pan to blacken a little. So it is better to use unsalted butter.) When the butter melts, we can add finely chopped garlic pieces to it. Add green chilies, curry masala, garam masala and turmeric powder as well. Saute all the ingredients for a few minutes. When sauteed well, add the soaked rice to it. Add salt too, according to your taste. You can add a few drops of oil to the rice, so that the rice grains won't stick to each other. I skipped this part as I felt that butter was enough. Cover the pan and keep it over the flame till rice is cooked well. When the rice is done, we can keep it aside and fry some chopped carrots and beans in oil. Add the fried beans and carrots to the rice and mix well. We can add fried cashews and raisins too, if we wish. Simple Arabian yellow rice is ready in a matter of minutes.
