Hello,
In this video, I show you how to make a simple 2-drawer desk. In a future episode, I’ll be making a fabric covered desk chair and lots of little bits and pieces to sit on the desk, as well as a pretty pin board to hang above it.

Here’s the cutting list for the desk:

76 x 3mm (2 63/64 x 1/8 inches) – Cut 2 – BACK MOULDINGS
26 x 12mm (1 1/32 x 15/32 inches) – Cut 2 – SIDES
26 x 3mm (1 1/32 x 1/8 inches) – Cut 4 – SIDE MOULDINGS
76 x 31mm (2 63/64 x 1 7/32 inches) – Cut 2 – TOP & BOTTOM
31 x 9mm (1 7/32 x 23/64 inches) – Cut 1 – DRAWER DIVIDE (Cut with the grain in the direction of the shortest edge)
2.5mm (3/32 inch) Sheet:
90 x 38mm (3 35/64 x 1 1/2 inches) – Cut 1 – DESK TOP
You will need 4 spindles or pre-cut legs or alternatively, you can use 5 x 5 strip
5 x 5mm (13/64 x 13/64 inch) Strip:
57.5mm (2 17/64 inches) – Cut 4 – LEGS
For the drawers: (make 2)
I advise cutting the pieces needed for the drawers after construction of the main unit, to ensure accurate sizing.
1.5mm (1/16 inch) Sheet:
37 x 8.5mm (1 29/64 x 21/64 inches) – Cut 2 – FRONT & BACK
27 x 8.5mm (1 1/16 x 21/64 inches) – Cut 2 – SIDES
33.5 x 27mm (1 5/16 x 1 1/16 inches) – Cut 1 – BASE
