In this easy macro photography tutorial I show my tips and tricks for a fun, creative project you can do at home with basic equipment. It's a great trick that uses oil on water to create beautiful bubbles, ripples and orbs that can look minimalist and abstract one minute to chaotic and vibrant the next.
I show how I set up the shot, from getting my camera overhead, to using manual focusing on my 100mm macro lens, to using lighting and coloured background paper to create the best look. Finally, I show how I edit the images in Lightroom and Photoshop, including removing dust and debris to using the Dust and Scratches and Gaussian Blur tools to smooth out the images.
I've genuinely loved the results I've got from this project and it's definitely one I'd recommend trying yourself if you're struggling for photo inspiration in the colder months.
