I've never cut a gear before, so it's time I tried! How many times can I mess up? Join me in my scary first attempt at machining a tiny pinion in my home shop.
A friend asked if I could make a replacement for a split plastic gear from an antenna rotator. Watch me try to understand the jargon and work stuff out. I'm sure any competent home-shop machinist can do this, but I'm famously incompetent in a huge range of human endeavour. Luckily I have no fear of failure, a large scrap bin and l love new challenges.
AIMEE my artificially-intelligent machining and engineering expert offers helpful and kindly advice. She's edited this description again, hasn't she!
