My home made track, a '00' scissors crossing in use.

I had always admired railway modellers who made their own track and points, but wasn't prepared to invest in buying lengths of track and copper-clad sleepering in case I just couldn't crack it. Then an old friend passed away during Covid and left me stacks of component parts. At the end of 2021 I put a scissors crossing plan onto a board and commenced. It all went quite well, but I had no application for it so on completion, I think it was Feb 2022 it was parked on a nail in my shed, remaining there until this week. On doing a spring shed tidy-up I uncovered a narrow strip of thin ply. Some roofing laths had been dumped in a skip nearby. The end result was a usable board onto which I have mounted the scissors. After much thinking I decided it was possible to use just 3 frog juicers to change polarity on the 6 common crossings of a scissors. Just today I finished the wiring and here we can see a Hornby 0-6-0 Sentinel running through the x over which remains usable on both routes with correct point settings. Now I'm thinking of adding station platforms along the whole board, Oh and perhaps another 4 foot extension ? Never say Never !!
