Wrongfully, many think by taking NAC, they are getting glutathione. What they are getting is cysteine. Cysteine is the KEY ingredient of Glutathione - but it is NOT glutathione. Glutathione is made up of cysteine, glycine and glutamate. In order to make glutathione from those components, magnesium, ATP and two healthy genes are required. There are some individuals, such as myself, that do not make glutathione well. Why? A genetic mutation found in the GCLC gene, helps make glutathione, is not very functional. It's slow in making glutathione when the body needs it.
