▼About the Narita Gion Festival
The Narita Gion Festival is called "Naritasan Gion-e" to pray to "Dainichi Nyorai" enshrined in Okunoin, the main Buddha of Naritasan Shinshoji Temple Fudo Myo-o, for a bountiful harvest, the happiness of all people, and the fulfillment of wishes. This is a summer festival held by the entire town around Naritasan, and has a history of about 300 years.
The Narita Gion Festival will be held on July 7th, 8th, and 9th during the Gion Festival for three days, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and the city of Narita will be dyed in a festive mood. Naritasan mikoshi, gorgeous floats, and floats parade around the approach leading to Naritasan with the sound of lively musical accompaniment and energetic shouts.
