The Chusovaya River is the most famous river in the Urals with amazingly beautiful nature and rich history. The Chusovaya River begins on the eastern slope of the Ural Range, next to the rivers of the Ob basin. Only she chose the road to the northwest. The river cut its way through the Ural Mountains, from Asia to Europe. Majestic rocks, which are called stone fighters, remained witnesses of that grandiose work. Picturesque cliffs begin in the middle reaches of the Chusovaya River. The river was the only road along which metal, semi-precious stones, gold - all the riches of the Ural mountains, were sent to Central Russia. From all the piers of the Chusovaya River, from 600 to 1000 barges departed annually. Swimming was not easy. Approximately three percent of the barges did not reach their destination. More than three hundred rocks of the Chusovaya River were ready to meet loaded barges. Not all of them were called stone fighters, but only the most dangerous ones.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, caravans stopped walking. They could not compete with the railroad. Two centuries of the turbulent history of the river are in the past. The Chusovaya River and its banks have become different. Only the stone fighters remained unchanged.
