Film in 4K format. Belozerye is located north of Vologda. This region has been mentioned in Russian chronicles since the time of Prince Rurik. Here were waterways to the north to the White Sea and east to the Urals. Almost two centuries ago, the North Dvina Canal was dug in their place. The relief of Belozerye was created by the Valdai glacier. The glacier disappeared about ten thousand years ago. The stones he pushed in front of him formed a ridge of hills. The watershed between the basins of the Arctic Ocean and the Caspian Sea runs through the hills. The highest hills here are called mountains. One of these mountains is Maura. We can say that a new history of Belozerye began with her. This happened in 1397. As the legend tells, the monks Cyril and Ferapont climbed the mountain to look around the area and choose a place for their future monastery - the Kirillo-Belozersky Monastery. A settlement was formed near the monastery. Now this is the city of Kirillov. This region preserves the highest examples of spiritual culture. The Ferapont monastery was founded by Cyril’s friend, Saint Ferapont. A century later, in 1502, the famous Moscow icon painter Dionysius came here. Here, in the Church of the Nativity of the Mother of God, his frescoes have been preserved. Now the temple is under the protection of UNESCO.
