The Neubaufahrzeug was a medium tank developed by the Germans from 1932 to 1937, in violation of the Treaty of Versailles. Its name translates to "new construction vehicle" - an attempt to hide its true purpose from Allied governments. Two initial prototypes were constructed by Rheinmetall using soft steel, followed by three more prototypes in armoured steel. Amusing Hobby's version of the Neubaufahrzeug represents the three armoured prototypes. These tanks were tested at the Putlos proving grounds in Germany and then deployed to Norway in 1940. Amusing Hobby offers painting and decal schemes for both the Putlos training grounds and the Norwegian campaign.
In this video I experiment with some colour modulation to enhance the dunkelgrau paint scheme, and add some basic weathering using an oil paint pin wash and some pigments for dust effects.
