This is the new AMG GT 63 PRO, and we're finding out if it should join the Shmeemobiles! Having owned 4 AMG GTs of the previous generation, the new PRO is the first to dial up the ante for SL-based platform. Join me at Ascari for a first drive and full discovery of the new supercar!
Last year, the new AMG GT launched with the 55 and 63 designations, based on the platform shared with the convertible SL. We've already seen the hybrid 63 S E-Performance arrive with maximum power, but now is the turn for a more dynamic and track friendly model. Having covered many thousands of miles with the GT Black Series, it should come as no surprised that an AMG GT with both serious track potential and combining with great usability, is very much on my radar.
We'll explore the new model and the upgrades that are both visual and hidden away under the skin; including heavy work to the cooling system to help increase the power to 612PS and torque to 850Nm (from 575PS and 800Nm), as well as elements such as braking to ensure consistent track performance. Then also check out the 'one to get' in the form of the Motorsport Collectors Edition, a special variant that is limited to just 200 models globally, following in the footsteps of the sister car of the SL 63, and of course along the lines of the AMG ONE and GT Black Series Project One Edition.
There's a lot to understand in terms of the PRO model positioning, and of course to push it through the paces on track at Ascari, where it certainly does not disappoint.
