The all-new KGM Actyon has officially arrived in the UK, and we were at the exclusive launch event to get a first-hand look at what this new SUV has to offer. This is KGM’s boldest release yet, marking their 70th anniversary with a return to the segment they pioneered back in 2005.
At the event, we had the chance to experience the Actyon K50 trim, the only available spec at launch, which is priced at £36,995 OTR. It’s powered by a 1.5-litre G-DI turbocharged petrol engine, producing 163PS and 280Nm of torque, paired with a 3rd-generation Aisin 6-speed automatic transmission. The result is a smooth, refined driving experience that offers practical power with efficiency in mind.
From the outside, the Actyon makes a bold statement. Its sleek styling - accentuated by a sloping roofline and high-mounted rear spoiler - gives it a distinctive edge in the C+ segment. The signature front grille and daytime running lights, are inspired by the Korean flag and reinforce the brand’s identity while adding a premium touch. The rear is just as striking, with its perpendicular LED tail lights and sculpted tailgate design enhancing the sporty appeal. Available in five colours – Iron Silver, Forest Green, Grand White, Space Black, and Dandy Blue – the Actyon is designed to turn heads.
Inside, the Actyon offers a premium yet practical cabin that combines modern technology with thoughtful design. The first thing you notice is the dual 12.3-inch high-resolution digital displays, seamlessly integrated into the dashboard, providing an intuitive infotainment and driver display system. Staying connected on the go is made effortless with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and TomTom navigation. The interior space is best-in-class, offering 668 litres of boot space, which expands to 1,568 litres with the rear seats folded down. The hands-free tailgate (just wave your foot!) adds convenience when loading up after a shopping trip or weekend adventure.
Comfort is another standout feature. The hexagon-shaped steering wheel is a first for KGM, offering a unique design while ensuring a clear view of the instrument cluster. The premium suede and leather seats are heated and ventilated, with 8-way electric adjustment and lumbar support for the driver and front passenger. The rear passengers aren’t left out either, with heated seats and up to 32° of reclining adjustment, making long journeys more relaxing. The floating centre console provides additional storage, while the ambient mood lighting with 32 colour options enhances your surroundings.
KGM has also taken safety and driver assistance seriously, equipping the Actyon with Level 2.5 autonomous driving capabilities. This includes features such as Autonomous Emergency Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Blind Spot Detection, along with an 8-airbag system, which provides a high level of protection for all occupants. The 360° Around-View Camera makes parking and low-speed manoeuvres effortless, while the Rear Cross Traffic Alert ensures confidence when reversing out of tight spaces.
During the UK launch event, we had the chance to test the on-road capabilities of the Actyon, and it impressed with refined ride quality, well-weighted steering, and a responsive gearbox. The Michelin noise-cancelling tyres help to minimise road noise, ensuring a quieter, more comfortable ride. KGM has also implemented structural adhesives and foam insulation throughout the body, further enhancing cabin refinement.
The Actyon is expected to be a strong contender in the UK SUV market, going up against rivals like the Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, and Toyota RAV4. With its standout design, spacious and tech-laden interior, class-leading safety features, and competitive pricing, it delivers exceptional value.
With UK dealerships set to receive stock from 24th January 2025, the Actyon is already generating significant interest. KGM’s return to the coupe-SUV market is an exciting one, and based on our experience at the launch event, this is a vehicle that’s going to resonate with both existing KGM fans and new buyers looking for style, technology, and practicality in one well-rounded package.
