In this episode, I make a big change in my journey and switch from the classic Trans America Trail to the Bike Nonstop Route. The decision comes with a mix of excitement and uncertainty as I set off from Dubois, Wyoming, into uncharted territory without the detailed guidance I've become used to from the ACA guides for the classic Trans Am. The spontaneity of not knowing where the next services are or what to expect ahead brings a new challenge that takes some getting used to.
The winds of Wyoming don't make it easy, either. I battle headwinds and crosswinds, at times making progress slow and exhausting. But there are moments of relief, like the occasional tailwind that pushes me forward effortlessly, allowing me to cover some quick miles. Each day brings a new test of patience and endurance, but also a new sense of freedom as I navigate this less-travelled path.
Along the way, I pass through the towns of Riverton, Casper, and Douglas, where I experience a heart warming encounter with a generous subscriber who treats me to a hotel stay and dinner, a much-needed break from the winds and a great reminder of the kindness found on the road. As I continue riding, I push on to cross the Wyoming state line into Nebraska, ending this episode in the small town of Harrison.
Join me as I adapt to this new route, face the challenges of the unknown, and continue the journey across the American heartland. The road ahead is uncertain, but the adventure is just getting started!
