This dish is thought to be named after a Genovese fishermen's soup, cioppin, and created by San Francisco's Italian immigrants. 1 large lemon 2 Tbs olive oil 2 medium onions, sliced 4 green onions, sliced 3 garlic cloves, chopped 1/2 cup dry white wine 1 medium yellow pepper, chopped 1 can whole tomatoes with juice 1/2 tsp salt 1/8 tsp crushed red pepper (add more if you like more heat) 1.5 lbs tilapia 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined 1 lb mussles, scrubbed and beards removed 1 cup loosely packed chopped fresh parsley 1/4 cup loosley packed chopped fresh basil Directions: 1. Remove 3-5 strips of peel from lemon, set aside 2. In large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat until hot. Add onion, green onion, garlic, and lemon peel, and cook for 10 min, stir occasionally 3. Stir in tomatoes and juice, salt, crushed red pepper, and 1/2 cup water, breaking up tomotoes; heat to boiling. Add fish, shrimp, mussels. Heat to boiling and reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, covered 6-8 min, until shrimp turn opaque throughout and mussels open. Remove from heat and add fresh herbs. Serve over spaghetti noodles, top with parmesan cheese. Serve with toasted garlic bread.
