I am so excited to show you how to make this new modern cake decoration! I will never claim this technique or recipe as mine, but I am so happy to finally be able to show you how it is done. I was inspired by @ekatsacademy and @floreacakes https://youtu.be/8hRb-iOzgPs. This is the link directly to her video. Ekats Academy has a group of classes on different edi le mediums that can be purchased. I encourage you to check both of them out! I did adapt Anna's recipe a tiny bit as I found that I needed more paper in the mix.
So I used 1 1/2 peices of wafer paper and 100 ml cold water.
Mix the 2 together with a smoothie mixer, emulsifier or Ninja until completely smooth.
Add 2 Tbs of the mixture to a preheated non stick pan at medium/high heat. Spread around with a Silicone Pastry Brush or spatula. Turn heat down to medium low and allow to dehydrate until it can be pulled off the pan easily. Set aside and allow to soften. Wipe residue out of pan before making another one. If you want to add color, use powder food coloring or petal dust.
I also show you how a drape the fondant and add the Shimmer on the bottom tier. I added texture to the top tier with buttercream and some sprinkles.
