Significant to Heritage Collections across the world, Auckland Libraries holds a copy of ‘An Account of the Natives of the Tonga Islands’, first published in 1817. The book is often referenced as the most accurate early account of pre-colonial Tongan life and customs. In this film we explore the meaning of the book with Pasifika specialists here in Tāmaki Makaurau over two centuries later.
