2012年当時、高架化前の地上新潟駅の光景。16：59～18：05の約1時間、国鉄車両のみが発着する時間がありました。高架化工事が殆ど始まっていない新潟駅地上ホーム1～7番線の風景や発車ベル・放送の音とともにお楽しみ下さい。

Until 2012, almost all of the trains in evening were old-fashioned EMUs or Diesel Mutiple Units (JNR-type) .
* Since 2013, new-type EMUs E653 series and E129 series have been introduced in Niigata area, and a number of 485 series and 115 series sets have been withdrawn from services.
* By May 2015, all sets of the 485-1000 series in Niigata Depot had been withdrawn from all services.
- JR 115 series EMU (for Local trains, constructed in 1964-1982)
- JR 485-1000 series EMU (for Ltd.Express trains, constructed in 1974-1979)
- JR KiHa 40 series DMU (for Local trains, constructed in 1977-1981)
