About the Speaker
Acharya Pramod Krishnam is a spiritual leader, social activist, and politician from India. Born on January 4, 1965, in Bihar, he is a member of a Brahmin family. His father was a freedom fighter and social worker, which influenced his early life and career choices. Pramod Krishnam pursued higher education in Political Science and Sanskrit, drawing inspiration from leaders like Swami Vivekananda and Mahatma Gandhi.
He founded the Shri Kalki Foundation in Sambhal and is the Peethadhishwar of Kalki Dham. Politically, he has been active with the Indian National Congress, contesting in the Lok Sabha elections from Lucknow in 2019 and from Sambhal in 2014, though he was unsuccessful in both attempts.
Recently, Krishnam was expelled from the Congress Party for six years due to "anti-party activities" and indiscipline, particularly after he made public remarks supporting the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, which was against the party's stance at that time. His expulsion was also influenced by his direct interactions with leaders from other political parties, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which raised concerns within the Congress party about his loyalty and political alignment.
