Nipsey Hussle and Cowboy (real name Herman Douglas) had a close and long-standing relationship. Cowboy was a friend, business associate, and mentor figure to Nipsey. He played a key role in the early days of Nipsey’s career and was often seen at The Marathon Clothing store, which Nipsey owned.
Cowboy knew Nipsey from a young age and was considered an older brother figure in the neighborhood. He provided guidance and support as Nipsey navigated life in South Los Angeles.
Cowboy worked at Nipsey’s store on Slauson Avenue and often helped manage day-to-day operations. He was a familiar face to customers and community members who visited the store.
After Nipsey’s passing in 2019, Cowboy became vocal in defending his friend’s legacy. He testified in court during the trial of Eric Holder (Nipsey’s killer) and disputed claims that Nipsey had disrespected Holder before the shooting.
Since Nipsey’s passing, Cowboy has remained an advocate for his legacy, pushing for peace in the community and continuing the Marathon mindset Nipsey preached. He has also expressed frustration with people trying to distort what happened the day of Nipsey’s murder.
