Sankaran Achuthanandan, founder member of CPI(M) was Chief Minister of Kerala from 2006 to 2011. He was the leading force behind Punnapra - Vayalar rebellion in 1946, organised agriculture labourers to form a strong Union in Kuttanad. He was born in Alappuzha district of Kerala on 20th October 1923
