Sheikh Noreen Muhammad Siddique had studied reading and reciting the Quran in a traditional Quranic school in the village of al-Farajab, near the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, in the mid-1990s.
In an article for BBC News, Sudanese journalist Isma'il Kushkush described Sheikh Noreen's style of Quranic recitation as different from recitation in Middle Eastern Muslim communities and characteristic of the African tone and articulation. This vocal style corresponds to the pentatonic musical scales, typical for the countries of the southern belt of the Sahara, stretching from West Africa to the Horn of Africa.
Shaykh Noreen returned to Allah at the age of 38 after a car crash, along with several other Quranic reciters, on November 7, 2020. Ya Allah grant him Jannat al Firdaws!

مَن قَرَأَ حَرْفًا مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ فَلَهُ بِهِ حَسَنَةٌ وَالْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا لاَ أَقُولُ الم حَرْفٌ وَلَكِنْ أَلِفٌ حَرْفٌ وَلاَمٌ حَرْفٌ وَمِيمٌ حَرْفٌ
Whoever recites a letter from Allah's Book, then he receives the reward from it, and the reward of ten the like of it. I do not say that Alif Lam Mim is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Mim is a letter. - (Sunan At-Tirmidhi)
