In this video I test out the latest firmware (firmware version 01.03.03.50) on the DJI Osmo Action 5 Pro with the Normal 10-bit color mode in neutral and vivid color tone. I also test these against HLG 10-bit and D-Log M. To be fair, I'm NOT A PROFESSIONAL COLORIST. So, this test isn't a very fair test for HLG or D-Log M but, to that regard, I think it's relevant to most people like me who just want the very best quality out of their Action 5 Pro without too much hassle. As a side note, as mentioned in the video, all the audio is from the DJI MIC 2 with the official DJI Lavalier mic connected to the Action 5 Pro. There is a portion, however, where I film with the iPhone and use the DJI MIC 2 internal 32-bit float audio as noted in the video.
I'm searching for the easiest method to get very good useable and repeatable footage so I can have quick turnaround times with editing and upload. Yes, D-Log M is good but unless you have lots of experience understanding color grading you may end up wasting a lot of time for a sub-par result.
I think this video will show that Normal 10-bit mode in the Neutral Tone is plenty good enough (with certain setting changes outlined in the video) without having to spend too much time coloring in post.
